ABOUT THE EVENT

The Event Is  a civic gathering to break the silence on one of the greatest challenges the Southeast of Nigeria has faced  since the beginning of the fourth Republic objectively and will feature presentation of Papers from respected technocrats and educationist drawn from the major tribes of Nigeria, civil society leaders, opinion moulders included in a discussion that will elaborate on the need of inculcating self sustaining ability, instilling positivism in the spirit of south eastern youths and paint a picture of their great future in Nigeria thereby strengthening  the bonds that unites the Nation.

WHY IMO
recently  The pivotal South Eastern States of Imo and Anambra turned 40   this year and thus presents an ample opportunity for this commemorative lecture in Imo which reflects on what the future holds for Nigeria as a united nation regardless of its  regional tensions, like Boko Haram in the North east, Niger -delta militancy in the south-south and Biafra agitations in the south east.

 CHOSEN RESOURCE PERSONS:

1.Olisa Agbakogba (SAN), One of the most respected lawyers in Nigeria from the South east, he has high inter-tribal followership and admiration in Nigeria today ,and is a voice to be reckoned to sensitize the south eastern youths on human right laws and abuse and the legal costs of participating in unlawful demonstrations etc. (South Easterner)

Prof. Pat Utomi, Technocrat ,this professor from the South - south of Nigeria is arguably one of the best brains in the nation at the moment ,his records and profile in Nation building  is rivalled by very few in todays Nigeria, the indepth of his mentorship capacity is immense and his opinions are regarded high in the cross sections of Nigeria .

Chief Dr. Chris Asoluka, is IMO Vice President Ohaneze Ndi igbo , and his position as the Imo apex member in the number 1 socio-cultural body governing the affairs of the Igbo's in Nigeria determined his position on this list, any discussion on the future of Igbo without participation of Oha na eze ndi Igbo will seem incomplete and this statesman of impeccable records and achievement will represent the state on Double facets As Imo Statesman and viable front for Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo

These are the people expected as the major resource persons to present papers on the confab  being put together by Nigerian Eye Newspaper,  Leadership Development Foundation for Civic Literacy, GCFN Consult and Society for Advancing literacy and social right.

The 2015 elections that brought a change in government, increased the positive surge in political consciousness of usually non-partisan youths and adult and must be effectively taken advantage of in propagating civic education in the populace and this year’s lecture presents an ample opportunity for soul search and reflections on the issues limiting the south east socio-political development and stratagems to conquer salutation of mediocrity in the zone.
